Check the platform combination
| Players | Support |
|---|---|
| Steam, Epic, GOG and Microsoft Store on PC | Cross-store play supported |
| PC and a console | Not supported |
| PS4 and PS5 | Supported within the PlayStation family |
| Xbox One and Xbox Series | Supported within the Xbox family |
Support within a console family does not establish PlayStation-to-Xbox support. An older GOG-only store description conflicts with the publisher and developer’s cross-store guidance; the table follows their direct support information.
Join a PC host
- Both players enable cross-play in Gameplay settings when using PC cross-store play.
- The host selects a world and character and enters the world.
- The host opens the pause menu with Esc and uses Copy game ID in the upper-left area.
- The joining player selects Join Game on the main menu, pastes the ID into Enter Game ID, and selects Join.
The Game ID identifies the session. It is not a store activation code or an administrator key. The host needs to remain in the world for an ordinary hosted session.
Use a dedicated server when needed
For a persistent session, the official Core Keeper Dedicated Server is available under the Steam Library’s Tools filter. Start the tool to generate a Game ID; players still enter it through Join Game. The documented console command to stop the server is q.
Ordinary co-op does not require buying third-party hosting or deploying Docker. If joining fails, check the platform combination, cross-play setting, host status and copied ID first.
